God Wants Us Miserable

We believe in karma, yet we believe God wants us miserable.

Does God care solely about everyone being happy 24/7? No. Does He want us to do stuff that is stupid or possibly damaging because it would make us happy? No. But does that really mean we can’t take any risks, do risky things, or push the boundaries of our safety nets because of it? NO!

Just because God never said all He wanted was our happiness does NOT mean He said all He wanted was for us to be miserable. We can take risks and do risky things. We can push the boundaries of our safety nets. Will there be consequences? Of course! There are consequences to everything in life. Good and bad. Karma doesn’t mean taking a risk equals bad payback. It means you do good - you get good. You do bad - you get bad.

If my risk isn’t hurting anyone then what does it matter? If it isn’t outright stupid, then something outright stupid probably won’t happen. We get so scared to do anything if there is any risk involved at all. Then we blame God. Why? WE are the ones scared. Every big decision is scary. If it wasn’t, then it wouldn’t be a big decision. We can buy homes without thinking twice about the consequences later down the road. What if you decide you don’t want to live there. Why can’t you move across country without thinking about the consequences of not having every little thing planned out? Aren’t we told to not plan?

James 4:13-15
"Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such-and-such a city, stay there a year trading and make a profit”! You don’t even know if you will be alive tomorrow! For all you are is a mist that appears for a little while and then disappears. Instead, you ought to say, “If Adonai wants it to happen, we will live” to do this or that."

Okay, so it doesn’t perfectly say what I’m saying. But, it does tell us that we really don’t know what will happen even if we plan out everything perfectly. Say you want to move across the country. You plan everything “to a t” and still have problems quickly after moving. God willing, you will move, but how much risk will you take to see that it happens? Do you honestly think that if you packed up and moved without a plan that God will provide any less for you than He would had you planned ahead?

People propose without thinking of the consequences that may happen later on down the road. Yet people can’t seem to not freak out at the prospect of losing a job without one to replace it. Where is our faith in God and His “karma”? He can help us out with buying homes and marriages but not with jobs and bills and food? When did He become so weak in our eyes? Probably around the time we started limiting His power (only in our minds, of course).

My wife has moved all over the country numerous times without thinking twice about it. God was always there with her even before she believed in His existence. Will that stop now that she believes in Him? What kind of sick God would help you when you don’t believe and then turn His back when you do believe? Are we not told to have faith that God will provide? Are we not told that to look back is to show doubt in God?

1 Timothy 6:7-10
"For we have brought nothing into the world; and we can take nothing out of it;
so if we have food and clothing, we will be satisfied with these. Furthermore, those whose goal is to be rich fall into temptation; they get trapped in many foolish and hurtful ambitions which plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all the evils; because of this craving, some people have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves to the heart with many pains."
James 2:5
"Listen, my dear brothers, hasn’t God chosen the poor of the world to be rich in faith and to receive the Kingdom which he promised to those who love him?"

Philippians 4:11
"Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content."

If I am doing what I truly believe is best for my family, why would I hesitate? Due to personal fears and dollar signs? Can God not help me through ANYTHING no matter how terrifying it is to me? Do I really need to wait for the stars to align and my plans to fall perfectly into place? Wouldn’t it show a lack of faith if I waited for the promise of money or a good, worldly outcome?

God never said He wanted us happy. However, He never said He wanted us miserable, either. We make ourselves miserable. If you believe in karma, then you must believe that if you are doing what you think is best and it isn’t harming anyone, then karma will roll back around in the same way you put it out.

Luke 6:38
"Give, and you will receive gifts — the full measure, compacted, shaken together and overflowing, will be put right in your lap. For the measure with which you measure out will be used to measure back to you!”

Go out into the world with a new, energized trust of, and faith in, God. Do good. Receive good.
